Catharina + Family: Portraits

Over the Labour Day weekend this year, I got to shoot a family portrait session with Catharina and her family - husband Hendrik, daughter Emily, and son Justin!  I arrived at their home in Markham on a nice somewhat overcast day (best lighting for outdoor shots!) and headed to a park near their home.  It was a bit windy when we arrived and after about 5 shots, we got rain! I quickly grabbed my equipment and we ran for cover ... i.e. we sat in the family van until the rain cleared...which it did! Yay!

The weather after that was beautiful and the clouds spectacular! Everyone was excited and enthusiastic about the shots, and had fun carefully selecting spots on the grass not covered in goose poop! Overall, a great day of shooting - minus the minor rain delay of course! Take a look for yourself!

Sneak Peak: Maribeth + Paul | 10.09.10

Maribeth + Paul find love...again. :)
What a beautiful ceremony and reception for this lovely couple! It was the Brady Bunch in the making uniting Beth's family and Paul's family in an elegant ceremony held at St. Joseph's Parish in Mississauga and then a night of celebration at Catharina's Banquet Hall. Here's a sneak peak of their special day. Congratulations to the Rubio + Damian family! Enjoy!

Making Friends with Lemons: Kangoo Shoot

One of our first projects together for Chris and myself (under our new 1827 name), was doing a series of photoshoots for lululemon athletica Yorkdale showcasing the lemons participating in various athletic activities while sporting their awesome lemon gear!

The first activity we photographed is called Kangoo! If you haven't heard about this new aerobic activity, it uses "a space-age rebounding boot that offers a cardiovascular workout – whether by way of aerobics or running – with minimal impact on joints." (check out an article about it here). We headed down to Harmony Fitness to meet the lemons and shot away!  Check out some of the photos below and come back to see the other shoots we did for lululemon Yorkdale (will post more soon)! You'll also see some of our photos posted in store so if you're shopping at Yorkdale Mall, check out our photos...and oh yeah, did I mention they sell awesome athletic gear that make you look and feel oh so good!?!

1827 Meets Manifesto Festival!

We recently got the opportunity to shoot for a Toronto grass roots festival run by a great organization called Manifesto From their site, "Manifesto Community Projects is a non-profit grassroots organization working to unite, energize, support and celebrate Toronto’s vibrant and diverse music and arts community, and find innovative ways of working together towards common goals." They recently held a week long festival with amazing events from art exhibitions, dance competitions, and workshops, to film screenings, outdoor markets, and huge free outdoor concerts!!! We were proud to be a part of the Doc Team for 5 of the events.  It was a lot of shooting in a short period of time but we had an awesome experience, met great people, and we are sure to do it again next year! Take a look at our results!
