Ryerson Rams Sports Identity

[chris] As far as cool projects go, this one has to be up there. I recently had the opportunity to re-design the Ryerson University Rams visual identity as part of my day job as a graphic designer at Ryerson. It took a long time to complete but well worth it. I hope you like the results. Below are some articles about the new look. Enjoy!

Eva + Warren | Engagement Shoot

Meet Eva + Warren! I am so happy to be posting this blog about their engagement session with us back in early July! I have known Eva for over 15 years!!! She and my oldest sister are best friends and are/were each others' maids of honour! I was so excited that Chris and I were selected to photograph the wedding of these two lovebirds which will take place in October this year! Eva + Warren are the coolest couple and were great in front of the camera - they were relaxed and full of affection for each other - it made our job so easy! There were so many awesome pics to choose - here are some of our favourites!

Raquel + Maor | Engagement Photoshoot

We have the pleasure of introducing you to Raquel + Maor! They make the cutest couple! We photographed this engagement session in Liberty Village (Toronto) with it's industrial feel, quirky niches, and amazing old architectural buildings! Raquel + Maor were both appreciative of the locations we scouted out beforehand for this e-session. Check out the results below - the brick wall photo series are our favourites!  Congratulations Raquel + Maor....see you both at the Chuppa!

Family Portrait Sessions!

In this blog we have a couple of amazing and not to mention cute baby / family portraits! If you thought shooting a 12 hour wedding was hard, imagine shooting a family portrait with toddlers and kiddies for 1-2 hours! I don't know how parents do it but to all the new mommies and daddies, we applaud you!!! The parents and kids were amazing to work with - the kids were like wind-up toys that never stopped!!! These families kept us laughing and on our toes but I think you'll agree, the photos for these two families were adorable, beautiful, and full of love and laughter! Enjoy!

Male Model Photoshoot

In January this year, we had some visitors over from sunny California! During their stay in cold cold Toronto weather, we made time for a photoshoot! We were asked to shoot some professional model headshots and include some catalogue type shots. Our first time model, 6'4" Chiquito was a natural and super easy to work with - the camera loved him! We used white seamless as our backdrop in the large partyroom in our condo (reason why we wanted to move! see our previous blog for details). The fun catalogue shots are below! The last picture may require parental guidance ... or a fan! The outcome may seem familiar...we were going for something along the lines of a Calvin Klein ad. What do you think?

Thank you Chiquito & Amy for being so awesome. Enjoy!

Brand development for new Indigenous Research Centre

Hello Friends! We know it's been a while since our last blog but we have a good reason! We've had a lot of projects with photography and design to keep us busy and.....[insert drum roll here] 1827 is moving! Yes, we're moving in June this year to expand our working and living space! Our plan is to not only upgrade from our current space, but to also incorporate a studio space in our home. We're very excited!  We'll keep you posted on the progress and renovations...hopefully as painless for us as possible!

In the meantime, let's catch up! Last year, we worked on an amazing logo design for a research centre that was established in the same year. The Chair of the centre was looking for a Native artwork inspired logo that would convey the message of indigenous issues and government policies and at the same time, promoting the new research and resource centre for professionals, students, and of course, Native Canadians.  The brainstorming began and we offered up several beautifully designed logos; however, the designs weren't hitting the mark just yet but we did have a starting point. Feathers! In the end, as our client said, we hit it right on the nose! The client loved it!

The logo first appeared on posters that the centre, along with other collaborators, sponsored for a series of 5 speaker events that took place throughout the year. One speaker of this series was former Prime Minister Paul Martin! As we continue this relationship with our client, we are getting more and more work on promotional items for this centre. See what we've done below and of course, more to come!
